DFI-SPR has been conducting an elective course on “ Renovation of Building and Maintenance Management” for the Post-Graduate Advanced Construction Management Curriculum of the National Institute of Construction Management and Research ( NICMAR ), at Pune since 2007.

This course is designed to inculcate post- graduate students with management & technical appreciation of the modern ways of repair & waterproofing of concrete structures and to provide initial acquaintance with the products and application techniques in the specialised areas of waterproofing and repair.

A 6-month certificate course on “Entrepreneurship Development in Waterproofing & Repair Materials & Practices for Concrete Structures” (approved under a joint Training scheme of The Construction Industry Development Council) was organized by DFI-SPR in 2007-08.

The First batch of students passed out in March 2008. Two of the students have already begun their career as entrepreneurs. The others are all suitably placed in reputed construction and repair Companies in Mumbai.

Course Content :
1. Fundamentals of Concrete Technology
2. Waterproofing
3. Health & Safety in Repair & Rehabilitation Projects
4. Entrepreneurship Development
5. Building Repairs

6. Engineering Drawing & Building Const.
7. Basic Physics and Chemistry
8. English and Communication Skills

The trainees will be put through comprehensive education and training in three parts:
1. Classroom ( 5 Months )
2. Practical lessons & Demonstrations ( 5 Months )

Admission is open to those who have passed 10+2 Examination from Recognized Boards or I.T.I. Examination. Preference will be given to pass-outs in Science stream / I.T.I. in Civil engineering or Related Disciplines.

The upper age limit for admission is 26 years as on 1st September 2008.

Total Seats : Twenty Five Only

Admission will be based on a written test objective type of 90 minutes duration to be conducted at Andheri, Mumbai. The test will cover Basic Sciences, General Knowledge & English language. The date of the test will be notified to the applicants Separately.

This course is non-residential and the applicants will have to make their own arrangements of boarding and lodging.

Last date for sale of prospectus cum application form is 1st August 2008

The completed application form should be submitted together with a fee of Rs. 100/- in cash on or before 1st August 2008 will not be considered.

The course fee is Rs. 5000/- payable in 2 installments. The first installments at the time of admission and the second installment on 1st November 2008.
